Gluten Free Snacks - Ian's Popcorn Turkey Corn Dogs
Submitted by JeBas on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 17:16.
Like every parent, I'm trying to find things that my kids will eat. My youngest decided that she liked the mini corn dogs, so I thought I would try Ian's Popcorn Turkey Corn Dogs.
Though I have generally liked Ian's Natural Food products, this gluten free offering was a complete miss. The corn breading around the dog was dry and crumbley. It fell off of the dog as I bit into it, and it chewed like sand. The turkey dog that was used also had no real flavor at all.
Neither of my kids liked these corn dogs. The one that has a problem with gluten, ate one, asked for ketchup, and then ate half of another one. The child without a gluten problem didn't finish the first one.
These will not be bought again.
Gluten Free Meats - Applegate Farms Pepperoni
Submitted by JeBas on Wed, 11/19/2008 - 10:00.While reading through my RSS feeds, I ran across this recipe for Pizza Casserole. This gave me the perfect opportunity to test Applegate Farms Pepperoni. I wanted to because their packaging is marked as being gluten and casein free.
This is a much milder pepperoni than the traditional Hormel. You don't get that mouth burn after eating two or three pieces at once. In fact, you would almost describe it as being sweet. It is a good taste, and both of the kids really enjoyed it.
I would buy this again.
